I have to admit that we usually fail horribly with a bedtime routine.  There are some great things about having 4 kids, but bedtime has proven to be a challenge. The older kids are usually not ready for bed when we need to put our toddler to sleep, but their noise always keeps him up!  He’s a very light sleeper so we have to be really quiet in order for him to stay asleep once he is down.  There are some things that we have done to help him recently and I wanted to share with you the JOHNSON’S® 3-Step Routine.   TheJOHNSON’S® 3-Step Routine is clinically proven to help your baby fall asleep up to 30% faster and be 58% less likely to wake up during the night.
Here is what it involves:
  • Step 1: Warm bath with JOHNSON’S®  baby BEDTIME®  bath or JOHNSON’S®  baby BEDTIME®  bubble bath and wash. Our little one loves bath time and always has!  Lately we have offered him a bath book and let him play with that in the bath.
  • Step 2: Lotion massage with JOHNSON’S®  baby BEDTIME®  lotion.  My little one loves for me to play with his toes!  Sometimes it ends up tickling him, but I just lay him back down and gently rub his back which calms him right down.
  • Step 3: Quiet time. Share how you help your baby wind down further (reading, singly softly, etc).  Quiet time is essential.  I tell the older girls that they have to be quiet too and I read him a quick book a lot of times or we all read one together.
This 3 Step routine has really helped us out with bed time and I can tell it goes SO much smoother when we do it.  I think the bed time bath products even help me to sleep!  JOHNSON’S® bedtime products release NATURALCALM® essences–a special blend of gentle and calming aromas to help soothe your baby.

Plus I get to spend quality time with my little one.  The days leading up to his brother’s arrival are so important right now and I love having this bedtime routine for extra cuddles.  Daylight savings ends Sunday, November 1, 2015 and I know that this routine will help with that transition.  The first few nights I may just put him down 15 minutes earlier each night to help with the transition and hopefully by the end of the week he will be back to a routine.
