The most important thing in the mind of parents, especially new parents, is the incidence of infant deaths. SIDS, or Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, is a mysterious and unexpected death of an apparently healthy infant. This can happen up to the age of one year. • Use of a firm mattress
• Mattress sheets that fit tightly
• Apparel that is well-fitting, especially in the winter

The primary reason for these recommendations is that infants have very little control over their movements. They can potentially strangulate or smother themselves in loose bedding. Therefore a baby blanket requires particular attention. Baby blankets are obviously spread loose over the baby while he sleeps.
An infant baby sleeper can eliminate the use of a loose blanket. If you choose a baby sleeper as per the requirements of local climate, it will keep your baby warm and comfortable all through the night. Some babies are not sound sleepers and tend to move a lot during sleep. With blanket sleepers there is no risk of the baby moving out of blanket and getting exposed to the cold. Nor is there any risk of suffocation or re-breathing exhaled carbon dioxide. Blanket sleepers have a zipper closure for convenient diaper changes and come in sizes that depend upon the baby’s weight.

So in my search for all things comfortable and sleepwear I came across a site recently which I haven’t shopped at yet but is definitely on my list.  It is called BigFeetPJs.com and carries nothing but one of our very favorite classic styles of comfortable pajamas.  The footed pajamas.

Footed Pajamas for Men and Women

Ok, this winter was absolutely freezing and my cat completely kept knocking my slippers away from my bed.  So one thing I was thinking that would help both of these problems is to buy fleece pajamas that also have feet sewn into them already.
The reason I think that these could be the ultimate pajamas and solution for cold winters and people who have pets or even kids who like to play with things and hide things is that these footed pajamas are made of fleece which is not only usually a seriously comfortable and warm fabric…not to mention usually a really nice light fabric as well…but since they are footed pajamas, they should also help to keep your feet warm while you sleep, while you get up to use the bathroom at night and even when you are walking around in the morning or to go get the newspaper.  The one thing I didn’t like about the footed pajamas though is that it looks like they are all one piece pajamas, but then again, not everything can be perfect.

Footed Pajamas for Men and Women

Ok, so I was laughing really hard the other day remembering footed pajamas from the 80′s but also remembering how comfy they were when I was a kid.  I think what really got me going on them was the episode of the Family Guy where Peter bought a set/pair of red footed pajamas and he refused to take them off for days.   Now Peter took this to the extreme, but then again, if you think about it, pajamas are made to be soo comfortable that you are able to sleep in them and with footed pajamas it is the perfect pajama set in my opinion because the pajamas not only keep you warm and comfortable, they also make it so that your feet don’t get cold when your blanket doesn’t cover them all the way.  We have all had those nights where your blanket just doesn’t seem long enough and your feet are freezing.
The other time footed pajamas come in handy is if your boyfriend, girlfriend, husband or wife is a coverhog.  If they are the type that steals the blankets and leaves you cold and uncovered in your bed, you no longer have to worry if you own a pair of footed pajamas because they not only cover your entire body with their warm footed goodness, but they also are comfortable and can easily take place of or be used instead of a blanket.   So let that blanket hog have his or her blanket because you can stay warm and cuddled in your footed pajamas.

Pajama Glossary at Big Feet Pajama Company

Blanket Sleeper
Blanket sleepers are another term for footie pajamas, but are more commonly referred to as infant and children�s footed pajamas.. The origins of the blanket sleeper can be traced at least as far back as the late 19th Century, to footed, one-piece sleeping garments for children, then known as night drawers. However, the blanket sleeper first took something closely resembling its present form in the early 1950s, when many of the most recognizable features were first adopted, including the use of synthetic fabrics, slip-resistant soles, toe caps, rib-knit collar and cuffs, zipper or button closure, snap tab, and applique. The term blanket sleeper also first came into common use at this time, although sleeper by itself appeared considerably earlier.
Butt Flap
A butt flap is a flap on the rear of a one-piece pajama that allows the wearer to use the restroom, while not having to remove the entire garment. The butt flap is typically sewn at the base of the flap and secured by Velcro, buttons or snaps across the top of the flap. It may also be referred to as a drop-seat or trap-door.
Dr. Dentons
Dr. Denton or Dr. Denton's is a (historically) well-known brand of blanket sleepers, formerly manufactured by the Dr. Denton Sleeping Garment Mills of Michigan. The company was founded in 1865, originally as the Michigan Central Woolen Company, and from the late 19th Century through the first half of the 20th Century was probably the single best-known manufacturer of blanket sleepers in the United States. The brand was so well-known that Dr. Dentons became (and remains today) a genericized trademark. The name Dr. Denton derives from Whitley Denton, an employee of the company who created the original design on which its product line was based. The appellation of "Doctor" was a marketing gimmick, intended to give the impression that the garments were designed (and implicitly endorsed) by a medical doctor.
Drop-Seat
A drop-seat is a flap on the rear of a one-piece pajama that allows the wearer to use the restroom, while not having to remove the entire garment. The drop-seat is typically sewn at the base of the flap and secured by Velcro, buttons or snaps across the top of the flap. It may also be referred to as a butt flap or trap-door.

Flannel Pajamas
Flannel pajamas are sleepwear garments comprised of soft, loosely spun cotton yarn. Flannel is a warm fabric of various degrees of weight and fineness. The origin of the word is uncertain, but a Welsh origin has been suggested. Flannel can be traced back to Wales where it was well known as early as the 16th century. The French term flanelle was used in the late 17th century, and the German Flanell was used in the early 18th century.
Jammies
Jammies or Jammys are an informal term for pajamas or sleepwear. In colloquial speech, sleeping pajamas are often called "pjs", "jim jams" or "jammies."
Jersey Knit - Jersey knit is a loose, supple knit fabric comprised of natural cotton that is most popular in tee shirts. Jersey knit is known for its all-season comfort.
Jiffy Grip
Jiffy Grip is a breathable, non-slip, cotton fabric with rubber dots that are typically used on the soles of footed pajamas. Jiffy Grip fabric is fairly durable and will help prevent slipping on smooth flooring.
Long Johns
Long Johns are a one-piece knitted, thermal undergarment that covers the legs and buttons up the front. Micro-Fleece Pajamas
Micro-fleece pajamas are a soft synthetic wool like fabric made from recycled plastic bottles or other synthetic fibers. One of the first forms of microfleece was "Polar Fleece" which was created in 1979. This new, light and strong pile fabric was made to mimic and in many ways surpass natural wool. Fleece does have some of wool's finest qualities but weighs much less compared to the lightest available wool garments. Micro-fleece is a vegan alternative to wool that can be manufactured entirely from recycled plastic bottles and is very light, soft and easy to wash. The thickness of fleece fabric varies - 100, 200 and 300 with 300 being the thickest and least flexible.
Some of the advantages that fleece provides are it is soft and comfortable to wear and is very easy to care for. Other advantages are that it is extremely warm and provides this warmth without weighing a lot. Also, the nature of fleece is that it cannot hold liquid very well and is a breathable fabric so perspiration passes right through the fabric and dissipates quickly. This is why many interested in physical activity are drawn toward fleece. Fleece is a great fabric for someone who is allergic or sensitive to wool apparel.
Overall fleece is a fabric that has been engineered to be warm and soft, lightweight, resilient and easy to take care of. If you don't have any fleece clothing or products I recommend you check them out. Not only are comfortable, but they are also considered environmentally friendly.

Sleepers make the perfect starting point for a costume. Costume blanket sleepers

Anyone here own a costume footed sleeper? What do I mean by a costumed sleeper, you ask? It's a blanket sleeper that's made into an animal costume,from a blanket sleeper with a few embellishments on it, like an attached tail, or an attached hood with fox, or bunny ears on it,or it's a cross between a mascot-costume,or fursuit, and a one-piece, footed, blanket sleeper,complete with a tail,hood,and attached mitts.I have the latter.In the spirit of Christmas,I have my own rendition of the "A Christmas Story", bunny-suit,right down to the bunny-tail and attached mittens,and it's pink,just like Ralphie's. Second,I'm having a second costume sleeper in the form of a black cat done,as well.Hope to have that shortly after the holidays,in January,so anyone else have costumed sleepers like me?
